Bethel University
Last spring, a number of students contacted BSA about addressing the need for greater accessibility to work out equipment. BSA has looked at a number of different options that could help on-campus but all of them come with an unbelievably high price tag. So, over the summer BSA with the help of Student Life contacted a couple local gyms to look into a cheaper off-campus partnership.
LA Fitness gave us the best deal and from our perspective, has the most to offer our students. It's facility includes a gym, a pool, a sauna, locker rooms, multiple cardio machines, and free weights. It also has many work out classes ranging from Latin Impact to Yoga. BSA decided to enter a one year trial partnership to test student's interest in the program. We realize this by no means is a solve all, but we hope this option would help provide students with another option to pursuing a healthy lifestyle. We are aware there are many students that already have memberships at off-campus sites. This partnership will hopefully make it more affordable to them and other students who may be interested.
This new partnership saves students a significant amount of money. It waves students initiation fee and drops the monthly cost to under $30 a month. Students pay only on a month to month basis and there are no long term contracts. Students with certain health insurance may also receive an additional $20 off per month.
LA fitness is open Mon-Thurs from 5am-midnight; Friday 5am-10pm; and Saturday & Sunday from 8am-8pm. Students may also use it at any LA fitness in the metro area. Students are welcome to give the program a short trial if they are interested. We are currently giving away 3 day trial memberships in the Loft. Should students decide to enter into this partnership they may pick up a certificate in the Loft that must be presented to LA fitness to receive the discount.
