Schedule

LI3_ will be meeting for 6 weeks, January 15,22,28 and February 5,12,19. 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. We will be meeting in HC122. Here is a tentative overview of what each night will look like. Click here for an overview of the assessments.

Week 1- Tuesday, January 15: We are leaders

  • An introduction to incarnational – missional leadership.
  • The four sides of the frame: presence, proximity, powerlessness, and proclamation.
  • Incarnational: we are all created in God’s image, individually and uniquely, for a specific kingdom purpose.
  • Missional: this kingdom purpose will involve our being ‘sent’ to genuinely identify and impact those we are called to reach.

Week 2- Tuesday, January 22: Who are you created to be?

  • Assessment: the Clifton StrengthsQuest™ (SQ)
  • Focus: “Who am I?” and, “Who did God create me to be?”
  • This entire session will be devoted to teaching and applying the SF/SQ.
  • Proposed book: “Start With Talent, Finish With Strength.” A workbook created in partnership between Gallup and Mosaic. Interactive, includes SF code, 32 pages.

Week 3- MONDAY, January 28: What is your place among others?

  • Assessment: Myers-Briggs Indicator Type II
  • Focus: “What is my personal / leadership style?” and, “What should others expect?”
  • This session will engage the components of the MBTI, moving from an individual focus to an understanding of place and purpose among others.
  • Proposed Book: “Understanding Your MBTI® Step II Results” (workbook).

Week 4-Tuesday, February 5: Where is your ‘best fit’ for leadership?

  • Assessment: APEST©
  • Focus: “Where am I designed to lead?” and, “Where is my ‘perfect fit’?”
  • Session 4 addresses the need to know where you belong as a leader within complex ministries and structures. The right person in the wrong place is still not a good fit.
  • Proposed Book: chapter 6 of “The Forgotten Ways” – available in pdf.

Week 5- Tuesday, February 12: Why do we need to serve?

  • Teaching: Character Matrix©
  • Focus: the motivation and reason behind our need to lead.
  • The Character Matrix involves a deep and personal look at the need to serve first and lead later. Designed as a spiritual formation tool, the Character Matrix presents the challenges of self-focus, and how to become a servant leader. Philippians 2:3-11.
  • Proposed Book (not for reading): “Uprising: A Revolution of the Soul,” Erwin McManus. This book is the basis for the Character Matrix teaching.

Week 6 - Tuesday, February 19: What now. A conclusion on what and how to do the next steps
