Be a part of Student Activities!
We are looking for students that are passionate about planning,
promoting, executing and attending events that represent the
student body. Student Activities is constantly looking to refine
our current events, and come up with new events to insure our events
are what students want.
Why be on Student Activities?
By being a part of Student Activities you have the opportunity to
represent the student body by planning and executing events that
benefit all students at Bethel. Along with that you'll have the opportunity to meet a lot of new people, gain valuable experience and have a lot of FUN! To recognize students for their
involvement with SA we provide a variety of incentives/benefits,
which increase for each year that you are on Student Activities.
Incentives include free t-shirts, discounted or Free admission to SA
events and other recognition opportunities throughout the year. To see
a potential list of the benefits available to SA members for the coming
school year Click Here.
What Committees are there?
The 45-50 members of Student Activities are divided into six committees—each committee responsible for a specific category of events.
- Banquets & Dances: Plan everything that goes into the Homecoming, Christmas, and Spring Banquets and Dances
- Marketing & Technology: Market all events, design T-shirts, create videos and movies (Gadkin and Nikdag plus event promo videos for BU TV), maintain the SA website and more!
- Seasonal Events: Responsible for all events focused on the holidays and seasons. Events may include: Snowcoming week, Easter Egg Hunt, and 4 Days of Spring to name a few.
- Special Productions: Special Productions members are responsible for some of the long-standing Bethel traditions such as Gadkin & Nikdag to name a few
- Weekend Programs: As a part of Weekend Programs you'll help insure there are fun things for students to do on and off campus on weekends all year! You'll help plan Midnight Movies, Blast from the Past, and the Mario Kart Tourney to name a few.
- Music Productions: (name subject to change) NEW THIS YEAR! Have a passion for looking for and booking talent? This committee is for you! Music Productions is responsible for all Coffee Houses, Open Mic Nights, Battle of the Bands and the annual Concert hosted by SA (past concerts have included Mat Kearney, Matt Wertz and Nickel Creek).
Time Commitment:
As a part of Student Activities you are asked to give significant time and energy to the planning, promotion and execution of Student Activities events.
Specific commitments include:
- All SA meetings the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month, 9:30-10:30 p.m.
- Committee meetings the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month, 9:30-10:30 p.m. (Additional meetings may be requested by your director)
- Attend all SA events, approximately two per month. These events are listed in the Student Handbook at the beginning of the year. If you must miss you are required to give your director one month’s
notice to be excused. Any preventable excuses (i.e. work) are typically
not excusable. Two unexcused absences will result in dismissal from SA
Application Process:
- Who can apply for SA? All are welcome! It is our goal to have a well-rounded team that best represents the Bethel student body. So get involved!
- Download an application above. New members will also need two reference forms with their application. Returning applicants do not need reference forms.
- Applications are due Fri. May 16. You will be contacted for an interview after your application has been received. If you would like to be considered for multiple committees you may indicate that on your application and in the interview process. You may interview with more than one committee, but that is not required to be considered for additional committees
- Decisions will be made by the end of the school year, there will be an informal 1st meeting before the end of finals week.
- SA members will arrive back to school a week early next fall to help plan the first activities of the year including Homecoming, and will assist in Welcome Week activities.
